Thanks for the Festival and September Events - September 25, 2009
We had a great time performing on the main stage at the 35th annual Santa Fe Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival last month. Probably one of our best stage performances ever! The festival was a great success, by the way, but we’re glad it’s over for this year so Ben will have more time to spend with the band instead of on SW Pickers duties. Anyway, we followed that up with a private performance in Cedar Crest on Labor Day which included some jamming, great food, and friendly people! And rain! Thanks to Debra and Larry for their hospitality. We hope to be invited back again, as guests if not as the performers.
We are really excited about all our upcoming performances. This Saturday we will be playing at the Corrales Harvest Festival. We hope some of you will come out and hear us, as well as enjoy the festival. We are really excited because our good friends Michael and Donna Coy will be performing as Friends Forever Trio right after us!
We will be taking a few months off from performing so that we can record some tracks for our new CD, scheduled to be released in 2010. We pretty much know which songs are going to be on the new CD but if any of you that see us perform on a regular basis have a thought or two on what you’d like us to include, feel free to shoot us an email! As always with requests, if it’s accompanied by a little cash, it will carry much more weight! See you all real soon!
Santa Fe Bluegrass Festival - August 26, 2009
We would like to thank all our fans who showed up at the Heritage Farm on August 8. We really enjoyed performing that day. This is becoming one of our favorite venues. We like the relaxed atmosphere, and the farm house is air-conditioned! It was hot, and the farm house was a nice place to get out of the sun and heat and enjoy some music. Keep on coming (and dancing!)
We are extremely excited about
our main stage performance at the
Santa Fe
Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival on August 29th. We hit the stage at
10:00 AM. We earned this honor by winning the Bluegrass Band Competition in
2008. We could sure use your support at this performance. We have been practicing
hard in anticipation of this event.
Our next performance is a private party in Cedar Crest, arranged by the wonderful people at Apple Mountain Music. We are donating our time so that Arlene Carlson can watch us in performance.
We’re also looking forward to spending some time in the studio this fall with the hopes of getting a new CD out in early 2010. Have a great summer!
Heritage Farm and More... - August 5, 2009
We would like to thank the
Lavender in the Village Festival in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque
for having us on their stage. We were the last band on the last day, so there
weren't many people in the audience. We had a great time though, and the
people who came to listen to us were great.
Also we would like to thank all our fans who showed up at the Heritage Farm in July. We really enjoyed performing that day. It was hot, and the farm house was a nice place to get out of the sun and heat and enjoy some music. We appreciate all the tips that you all so generously gave. We play at the Bio Park pro bono, so your tips help cover all the costs associated with getting to the venue and getting set up. Keep on coming (and dancing!)
Saturday August 8th we are at the Heritage Farm at the Albuquerque Botanic Gardens. If you have never been to the Heritage Farm, you should come to visit us. It has a very rustic farm house, and a beautiful garden. This is becoming one of our favorite venues. We like the relaxed atmosphere, and the farm house is air-conditioned!!
Don’t forget our main stage performance at the
Santa Fe
Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival on August 29th – we’re working on some
new music that we hope to debut by then! Finally, we’re also looking forward to
spending some time in the studio this fall with the hopes of getting a new CD
out in early 2010. Have a great summer!
Heritage Farm, Lavender Festival, and more! - July 10, 2009
We had a great time at the Albuquerque Folk Festival, including sharing some time with a really nice group of people at the Jam with the Band tent. There was just a ton of great music and dance, and we’re already looking forward to next year!
This weekend is a big one for the Muddy River String Band! We have performances scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday July 11th we are at the Heritage Farm at the Albuquerque Botanic Gardens. If you have never been to the Heritage Farm, you should come to visit us. It has a very rustic farm house, and a beautiful garden. On Sunday July 12th we will be at the Lavender in the Village Festival in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. There will be food, music, arts and crafts, classes and lots of other entertainment. It should be a lot of fun!
We will perform at the Albuquerque Botanic Garden again on Saturday, August 8th, this time at the tent by the pond. Don’t forget our main stage performance at the Southwest Pickers festival in Santa Fe on August 29th – we’re working on some new music that we hope to debut by then! Finally, we’re also looking forward to spending some time in the studio this fall with the hopes of getting a new CD out in early 2010! More news on that later! Have a great summer!
Getting Set for Summer 2009 - May 19, 2009
Our performance at Old Town on Saturday, May 2nd was interesting. First, a wedding was taking place at the gazebo, so we were late getting started (congrats to the new couple, by the way!), and then rain interrupted us twice – the second time for good! But the music was rocking and we had a great time picking and singing. Thank you to the die-hard fans that stuck around until we finally had to call it a day – we hope you enjoyed the entertainment. Thanks also to Jimmy Abraham for all the arrangements and to Mancle for the great sound! This was a benefit concert to promote the Albuquerque Folk Festival coming on June 19th and 20th.
We recently played at the Manzano Mesa Multi-generational Center in Albuquerque. Our energy was high, and the audience included some terrific dancers. We would also like to thank the Tahitian dancers who entertained us during our break; they were fantastic!
We are looking forward to some really great venues this summer including our next performance at the Heritage Farm at the Albuquerque Bio Park on June 13th at 11:00 am. We hope to see you all at the Albuquerque Folk Festival on June 20th; we will be at the Jam with the Band tent at 1:00 pm. We are especially proud of our upcoming main stage performance at the 35th Santa Fe Bluegrass and Old Time Music Festival on August 29th.
